Mothers Day is a special day for all mothers but for the empty nesters

Day is the time when lonely mothers look forward to spending a day in
the company of her loving children. The biggest Mothers Day gift that
that the children of mothers staying alone can give is the gift of time.
Empty Nest Syndrome
When the children are young, mother is sole object of their attention.
As they grow older they become more independent and realize that they
have a life outside the house. And one day they leave their home for
education, job or marriage leaving their mothers behind in an empty
nest. Empty Nest Syndrome is a serious issue. Though it strikes both
father and mother, it has been observed that mothers are affected more
by it than the father as mothers are emotionally more attached to their
children. Greater attachment of a mother with her child has been
observed in case of single mothers and mothers who are housewife. In
these case the life of the mother becomes child centric for years, so
much so that when the child leaves the house, mothers get this poignant
feeling of emptiness and loneliness. At that point, their lives become
an endless wait for their children.
Responsibility of the Children
Children of mothers staying alone have a greater responsibility to
ensure that they give company to their mothers on the Mothers Day. They
must compensate the loneliness of their mothers by celebrating Mothers
Day with them and giving them a fulfilling day. It would be a nice idea
to come to a single mother a day before Mothers Day and give her a
breakfast on bed. You can take her out for a picnic with her
grandchildren and make her enjoy. Talk to her, listen to her problems
and her achievements. It is important to make her realist her importance
as a guide, mentor and advisor in the family. Do not forget to show your
gratitude for all she has done in your life. In case you cannot come to
meet her, write to her and call her on the day. You can also send her a
card and gift by the courier to express your love for her.
Share Loneliness of other Lonely Moms
Besides your mom, there may be other women who may be staying alone
about whom you may be aware of. It would be nice idea if you could spend
some time with them. Children must also strive to give company to their
grand mothers on Mothers Day. Holding large family get togethers is
great idea of celebrating Mothers Day.
